Cocoa mulch is also highly effective at suppressing weeds, giving you more time to enjoy your garden instead of weeding. Cocoa mulch consists of small, attractive shells that are easy to spread.
Cocoa mulch/cocoa shells are a unique product that creates a beautiful dark ground cover in your garden. Made from the shells of cocoa beans, this is a 100% biological product.
This mulch improves the soil's health and balance while adding essential nutrients. Cocoa shells are especially rich in nutrients like phosphorus, potassium, and nitrogen, making them ideal for roses, which thrive in this mulch. These nutrients also encourage the growth of beneficial microorganisms that many plants, including roses, love.
Cocoa mulch is also suitable for plants like rhododendrons, as its relatively low pH value of 5-6 supports their growth.
This is a truly unique product with many excellent properties. Cocoa mulch/cocoa shells can be used almost anywhere—flower beds, hedges, landscaping projects, and more. However, we do not recommend using it on walkways with heavy foot traffic.
How to Use Cocoa Mulch/Cocoa Shells
To achieve the best results when spreading cocoa mulch, follow these steps:
- Remove all weeds from the area.
- Thoroughly water the area so the soil is moist, helping the mulch adhere to it.
- Spread a layer of mulch no thicker than 5 cm, ensuring it covers everything evenly.
- Water the mulch thoroughly. Do not water the mulch again for the next few weeks.
Over time, a natural, invisible crust forms on the mulch, which keeps it in place and prevents it from blowing away. This crust also retains soil moisture, a particularly valuable feature in the spring.
After some time, you might notice a slight growth of mold. This is entirely harmless and will disappear on its own.
Available Sizes and Coverage
Cocoa mulch is delivered in four different big bag sizes (1000 liters / 2000 liters / 3000 liters / 4000 liters), allowing you to select the perfect amount for your project. The big bags are equipped with a cover to keep the mulch dry until you are ready to use it. This cover can be removed and replaced as needed, allowing the product to stay dry outdoors for as long as necessary.
- 1000 liters cover 20 m² with a 5 cm layer.
- 2000 liters cover 40 m² with a 5 cm layer.
- 3000 liters cover 60 m² with a 5 cm layer.
- 4000 liters cover 80 m² with a 5 cm layer.

We deliver cocoa mulch in big bags of various sizes, offering delivery methods tailored to your needs. Choose from three options:
Standard Delivery
Included in the price, this option delivers the big bag to your curb or driveway. For rural properties without a driveway or curb, it will be unloaded near the truck. This is a convenient solution but may require some additional effort to move the mulch.
Mobile Truck Delivery
For those needing the big bag closer to the garden bed, a mobile truck is the solution. The truck is only 2.3 meters wide and requires minimal turning space, allowing it to access most areas and surfaces. However, we advise against driving on wet grass, as the truck’s weight may leave marks.
Crane Delivery
This option is ideal if the mulch needs to be lifted over a hedge or fence.
